Undercover 03:52
I am an impostor. I’m not who you think I am I’m flying low, overhead, looking down at myself, from a dream I see, new clarity. I’m not, who I thought I was I am becoming something new I’m embracing the part. I am it and it is me You never really know someone I’m surprising myself, at who I can be Becoming my new self. Developing me Going undercover Immersed in a new sea. Navigation is not easy I’m embracing the part. I am it and it is me You never really know someone I’m surprising myself, at who I can be

It’s time, to forget what you know You’ve been here before but this time your reactions are slow Everything’s grey, and begins to dissolve The key to the puzzle is lost and it can’t be solved It’s time, to unlearn what you knew Watch trees, turn to seeds Everything’s backwards, and slipping away Out of our grasp, we’re losing our way Look for, a new way Like a flower, not here to stay Falling, out of reach Surrender, your growing weak Close your eyes and fall asleep
3.
Sleepyhead 03:26
I dreamt that, I shook you and cried Wake up, someone has lied But there’s a red dot, and I have TV eyes I feel them watching, but there is nowhere to hide I see disaster, where there is none I feel the panic, instead of fun I go from zero, to far too fast But we can never, undo the past Can you feel the trigger, tension and hold? See the sweat pool, although its cold See the future, slipping away? Every moment, feels like days
4.
Video call 04:02
I don’t know why. I might cry When I look around and see you do all the things - that I used to I look at the screen, I see your face It’s a miracle, of time and place How two people, so far apart can be so close It’s a tough time. It’s a rough time You’re uncertain. But it’s the best time You will work out what to do I can’t tell you I don’t know any better now than I did before Things can never go back We must - always go forward
5.
We don’t know, what you’re thinking Don’t care how you’re feeling No one’s innocent, but you are guilty And we’re, gonna make you pay There’s shouting, in the court room You betrayed us! You betrayed us! Now, you must pay We think we understand What made you betray the man Part temptation, partly greed You are cursed with a rotten seed If we, take a moment, to understand Find the origin, of the fear, in your eyes The devil’s choice, must be made (and Your) Love for one, be-trays the other one This is not, the home of compassion There is no love here The hounds are calling, for their meal Who would be the one to feed them?
6.
Your distant dreams of foreign scenes Begin to shift. Let go and drift back to here and now. You better wake up somehow and breathe Look, all around It’s like a small town that’s closing down Things are not how we planned Oh nothing’s for sure in this world any more We get a glimpse through the trees then we’re lost in the leaves
7.
Be the one 03:43
You’re the one Be the one Come-on, come-on, you can be the one Break the mould and do what must be done Think the thoughts and say the unthinkable Break the noughts and sink the unsinkable If your gonna make changes, you gotta break eggs Some people won’t like it, Don’t be the one who renegs Do the right thing, and Stick to your guns Hold up a mirror, daughters and sons Come-on, come-on, you can be the one Break the mould and do what can’t be undone Think the thoughts and say the unthinkable Break the noughts and sink the unsinkable
8.
It’s all new to you, everything is new It’s all new to you, the world is new It’s the first sun, it’s the first rain It’s the first touch and taste It’s real and new - and you’re taking it all in No – Your first word is no It’s a no-go. Your first word is no
9.
Stay awake 02:48
10.
You can say what you think, if you think the right things
11.
Be careless Let it all run away like the past too beautiful to stay Go on give it up, don’t hold on When the tides out Let it go. Go without Its not wrong
12.
13.
No promises 02:37
So. You’re serious I Know and what comes from that will Show No promises you owe
14.
Dust storm 02:40
In-significant. Irrelevant Each one a particle of dust We intimate and insinuate Gain entry, feign fidelity then scupper the machinery We’re not where we belong Chaos draw is strong A sparkle of mischief A compass that lies A clock that turns anti-clockwise We are a dust storm. Like a dust storm It’s not in our control Our planning’s an illusion A confusion infusion We are a dust storm. Like a dust storm

about

"Everything's Backwards" is the third Sandpit album. After a period of more synth based music, this record marks a move back towards the barking, hissing and crackling sounds of over-driven electric guitars. Bass guitar is mixed forward and trumpet, piano, acoustic guitar and synth add texture. Without being too overt, maybe the album has a bit of a 1970's vibe?
